On October 6, 2025, Hamas and Israel delegations started indirect peace negotiations in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, which is the first serious diplomatic effort to end the Gaza War in nearly two years. This renewed negotiation is followed by the second anniversary of the October 7, 2023, onslaught of Hamas on Israel is one that has brought about a full scale war and left Gaza in shambles and regional politics in shades of black and white ever since.

  • First stage in the short term: An emergency hostage-prisoner swap and a negotiated ceasefire.
