The inquiry into the Durgapur Gang Rape case of a second-year medical student has also reached a vital phase with the West Bengal Police reconstructing the crime scene on Tuesday in the presence of all the accused including the male friend of the survivor and he too was arrested after a prolonged questioning.
The officials claimed that the exercise was done to confirm the time frame and the roles of individuals involved in the attack because investigators are still putting together what occurred in the forested region near the medical college during the evening of October 10.

New Arrest and Crime Scene Reconstruction
The friend of the survivor who was a male, according to police, though living in Malda district was arrested after it was discovered that his statements did not fit into the timeline which had been made. His arrest has increased to six the amount of individuals detained with regard to the Durgapur rape case.
The recreation of the crime scene at Durgapur was early Tuesday morning in a secluded area within the forest cover behind the campus of the private medical college where the alleged assault was committed. The victim was reported to have gone out to eat with the friend before the incident.

The medical student assault in Durgapur medical has caused widespread demonstrations in West Bengal such as in Kolkata and Asansol, as students and women rights groups organized candle light demonstrations.
