In Greater Noida, in the heart of Uttar Pradesh, a devilish case has caused tremors, not only in the neighboring local residents but in the conscience of the country. Nikki, a young girl, who is enjoying life and dreaming, was mercilessly burnt in her husband’s home. The accused? The husband, Vipin Bhati, who, instead of protecting her turned to be the cause of her tragic death.
Videos emerged of Nikki being beaten and dragged by the hair and then an eerie short video of her walking down a staircase and covered in flames before collapsing. These images have been embedded into the national psyche as markers of cruelty, greed and the continuing evil of dowry or criminal cases like dowry that went on to kill following 2025 as well.
As the investigation unfolds, it emerges that this is not only a tale of a failed marriage. It is the unsettling reflection of how greed, self-destructive mania and social apathy all can culminate in absolute loss.
The Events Leading to the Murder

At around 3:30 pm, Nikki told her husband that she and her sister Kanchan will reopen their beauty parlour as they closed it earlier because of family tensions. The beauty parlour was a budding digital project with an Instagram account and a YouTube channel under the name Makeover by Kanchan. But Vipin, who was said to have no steady job and income, was jealous of Nikki’s entrepreneurship spirit.
By night, the confrontation turned to violence. Nikki was beaten, doused and burnt by her husband reportedly in the presence of another woman.
The Viral Videos
The thing that made the case hit national headlines were two shocking videos.
- The Assault Video Vipin and another woman were captured on camera dragging Nikki by her hair and mercilessly beating her.
- The Burning Video -Soaked with flames, Nikki fell down a flight of stairs in an attempt to evade the rage of her husband. Burned almost to death, she fell against the floor in a few minutes.

Kanchan was also beaten and continually pressured by her parents to get her more money.
